ABOUT
Salvage Renaissance is a purpose-driven brand that seeks to attract Generation X, Baby Boomers, and older customers towards buying upcycled clothing and accessories. Gen Z has been doing this for a while, so we want to bring it to other generations. We find our items in flea markets, at the back of closets, and in donation stores. About 50% of our offerings have been re-imagined by artists, who use trendy colors and detailing to revitalize these pieces. Our launch categories are denim, graphic tees, shirts, sweaters, hoodies, and bags. Our collection includes some of the most coveted brand names in flea markets and Goodwill stores, such as DL1961, Madewell, Levi Strauss, Calvin Klein, Wrangler, and Tommy Hilfiger. We also feature a few "Closet Capsules" that are very special collections: a consignment agreement for friends who are ready to part with some of their most valuable, iconic pieces.
The team who assembled this concept has been in the fashion industry decades, in a variety of roles: merchandising, design, production, finance, academia, and artisans. They are the best of the best in their respective fields. You may not recognize their names, but you know the brands, companies, and institutions for which they’ve worked: Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy’s, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, and the Fashion Institute of Technology, to name a few. We even have my childhood BFF, a Marine, who is a lifelong thrifter and found key items throughout her travels.
While our primary purpose is to reimagine and sell what we find, we also give back to the causes closest to our hearts. The first organization with whom we have partnered and highlighted is Help Ukraine 22, which provides ground relief in Ukraine. We re-imagined a capsule of flea vintage items by commissioning an artist to design and paint exclusive artwork, with a dedication to Ukraine on them. We also partnered with a streetwear artist, who created original, exclusive Ukraine-inspired graffiti art on 20+ upcycled shirts. We will donate 100% of the sales to this non-profit. Every two to three months, we will highlight a new charity and raise money through the sale of exclusive merchandise, created by artists whose work reflects the zeitgeist of that time in history.
